rotten egg

Hungry after work today and went straight to the kitchen to cook. Boiled my veges, figured out how many meatballs to put in, dumped my last remaining leftover tofu, added the various seasonings, put a piece of yee mee in, alllll ready to finally top it off with some egg - cracked the egg straight in and I immediately saw black mush in the pot- it was rotten O.O

Immediate thought was "Call mum and ask if I could salvage it without throwing the whole thing away" but I quickly decided to try to salvage first and then call later (because I didn't want the evil stuff to spread further into the broth). Finally managed to reach mum and she confirmed that I had to throw the whole thing away.

Hungry after spoiling a pot of yee mee and went straight to cook. Boiled my veges, figured out how many meatballs to put in, had no more leftover tofu for it, added the various seasonings, put a piece of yee mee in, allll ready to finally top it off with some egg - this time, I cracked another egg into a small bowl first to check.

This event reminds me of the spiritual analogy of finishing our race well. It doesn't matter if you've had all the right initial ingredients: serving God in various ministries, being well-versed with the Bible, regularly doing quiet time, doing all the "right" things - then to falter away in our faith later on in life. Once you've got a rotten egg in, it spoils the whole pot of life and it's stinks.

May we be able to say together with the apostle Paul:
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. - 2 Timothy 4:7

Also, I'll never crack an egg straight into a cooking pot again.
