2021

It's already January 2022 and I haven't reflected on the last year. Would like to just document moments of 2021 in this blog post, so here we go!

Due to Covid, no one was going anywhere, so my colleague Grace sooo kindly adopted me into her family for CNY dinner. Such a lovely gesture not just by her but her aunt's family, really appreciated it! Thank you Grace <3

Tagged along with Theresa and church youth group to Youth Park for a hike

Then, meetups, meetups and more meetups
Tong Sui Po with the fellow Bornean islanders

Nyonya dinner (3 denominations represented here xD)

Sue Ann, a friend's friend I met in the UK happened to be back in Penang.
She and her parents took me out for dinner! Hmmm keep getting fed by people..

Joined Yvo & SY at the Four Paws dog shelter for an afternoon. Day included being swarmed by dogs, bringing dogs out for a walk to the stream, and carrying puppy in my arm while sitting on the roadside next to a cemetery. Hmm..I haven't been back since and I salute Yvo & SY for their commitment to go every week xD

Ah, this was the same evening after dog shelter. We had Arabic(?) dinner then enjoyed the last moments of sunset at the beach.

Possibly my favourite hike view in Penang so far! Went to Iconic Hill with SL my colleague (thanks for layan-ing me when I wanted to go). Apparently it's closed now so this was my first and last time visiting this place.

Daorae Korean BBQ with the Bornean islanders again

The Habitat with JW! Really one of my favourite visits this year as well because it was during a highly restrictive Covid time (oops, we went out) so there were very few visitors, it makes the trip extra relaxing without the crowds!

Thankful that E, A & I managed to finish studying Colossians over our biweekly Discord meeting too! Fruitful time of studying God's words & sweet fellowship together

Turned 26. Ajia sent dinner by Grab and had video call dinner with the fam :)

Also enjoyed getting to know my cell group better over the year! Weirdos mingle well together

Ohhhh..another thing I'm really happy to have done this year is doing the Beginners' Sign Language class! This was run by the Sarawak Society for the Deaf and it was all done online. Over 2 months or so, we met virtually twice a week and I really enjoyed learning the the basics of this new language and getting to know this friendly bunch of people!

More random things: Took the cat to the beach..

Thank you SY & KM for hosting MORE Bornean islanders at your house! I appreciated the view from your living room so so so much (see picture below). It was a wholesome time of celebrating Christmas together over dinner and chats.

T never fails to impress me with her hospitality. Her family hosted me & her colleagues over for Christmas Eve dinner. Thanks for the carols and happy to see your hamsters!

First time visiting Ipoh!

Worked on Christmas Day, then went to A's place for a very British Christmas dinner (mince pies included) and stayed over for the night <3

Ajia & W came to Penang!! Awww this was so awesome. Enjoyed the week lots

Last of all..got my Implantable Collamer Lenses done!
Not having to wear glasses is so awesomeeee

I thank God for the love I've received from the community around me. Of course there are many other uncaptured moments where His care has been shown through the kindness and grace of people. I will need to sit and reflect further but I hope to walk closely with God in the coming year and not get distracted. Help me to fix my eyes on You, Jesus!
