Give up

if God would stoop so low
become a lowly man
drink the bitter cup of suffering
even though for centuries
his people were sweetly sinning

jesus
rejecting the vinegar offered to him
so on the cross he would feel total pain stinging
while mockers mocked save yourself
not knowing that the very act they were mocking
was the very act that would save them


if God would stoop so low

then he does not and will not easily give up on us.
