I just came back from Pustaka State Library for Can You Spell It competition. Got 5th. I saw HANNAH ! She got 4th. Congratulations HANNAH! Though I don't think you read my blog haha.
Satisfied liao lah.
Some of the words other people got I also dunno how to spell. But a lot of the teachers think it's very unfair. Cause' the judges choose words for every participant and don't automatically choose the next then the next word on their list.
The words I got were Disguise, Eminent, Genuflect (I spelt Geneuflect),Conscience, Miscellaneous, Chauffeur (I spelt Chaffeur).
In every round they eliminate those who spell the word wrongly (one round one word). So if you coincidently get a hard word and another person got a word YOU know how to spell, YOU'RE still OUT. Quite unfair one lah.
But the winners were really good at spelling lah.
THE WEIRD THING IS
The judge pronounced the word WRINKLE as WINKLE
The judge pronounced the word PICTURESQUE as PICTURES
A girl who got the "winkle" still got it correct after listening to the definition.
The other one even though the definition will make you able to know it's picturesque but she still spelt it "pictures".
During the finale (two girls left), the judge also gave scientific words like a "paraphivillea" or something to a Teresian girl Natalia :), Karen's friend. She didn't spell it correctly though. WHO CAN SPELL THAT!?
Still, thank God. He's given me lots of opportunities and blessings throughout these years. :)
Smile at your own risk.
